Hull: Capturing the world around us - Art in the City of Hull
					Hull and East Yorkshire is blessed with two great art 
					galleries in the Ferens Art Gallery, Beverley's Treasury 
					House and Humber Street Gallery. Great works also exist in the Hull Maritime Museum 
					and futher afield in the local stately homes like Burton 
					Constable and Burton Agnes.
					But also has had many great artists from the area down the 
					years too, John Ward, Frederic Elwell both from earlier 
					times and now Steve Winterburn who has huge Bronze Sculpture 
					installations erected all over the UK and his collections 
					selling Globally. Famous works at the Ferens include; 
				Antonio Canaletto’s The Grand Canal, Venice (c. 1724), 
				Herbert Draper’s  Ulysses and the Sirens 
				(1909) and various works by  Maritime artists John Ward and 
				William Frederick Settle.
The City even now has its own 
				Banksy.The Turner Prize Ceremony took place in Hull Ferens Gallery.

|  | David Hockney CH OM RA | David Hockney lived in 
						Bridlington for a while but spent time painting the 
						Wonderful East Yorkshire Wolds. As you approach Hull heading 
						East you pass through the edge of the wolds.

|  | Frederic Elwell | Frederic Elwell RA (1878 - 1958) - Beverley Born 
						artist, Royal Academy - Fred Elwell R.A. - a Life in Art: A Perspective on a New Old Master | ||
|  | John Ward | Hull born artist (1798-1849) His 
						works are exhibited in Hull's Ferens Gallery and Hull 
						Maritime Museum. His works predominately feature 
						maritime and ships. One of his pictures was stolen from 
						the Maritime museum in 2009 and found hanging on the

|  | Steve Winterburn | Locally based artist and sculpture. He did the stunning Rugby League Statue at Wembley Stadium and several other rugby league statues like Billy Boston at Wigan. He has an excellent website showing his work at Yorkshire Fine Arts | ||
|  | David Remfrey RA | David Remfrey studied art at Hull College. His work has been exhibited globally; New York, LA, Florida, Ohio, Maine, Pennsylvannia, Holland, Germany, London etc. His most famous work was a series called Dancers. | ||
|  | Banksy | There was much excitement when Banky did his cloak and dagger Hull visit in early 2018. People travel from miles away to see this piece. See location on Google Maps. The Hull Banksy is in the Hull old Victorian industrial area known as Wincolmlee on the River Hull and whilst accessible the roads nearby are busy so take care when heading there. | ||
|  | Dead Bod by Captain Len "Pongo" Rood | This humble piece of Graffitti 
						painted on sheds of Hull's Alexander Dock became a key 
						waymarker to weary sailors on the treacherous River 
						Humber. It was rescued and now resides in the Humber
